Introduction to Unix and Linux

Introduction to Unix and Linux

UNIX

In the year 1969 the paramount team of developers in Bell Labs gave birth to a new operating system in order to solve software compatibility issues.
The Team Named their project as "UNIX"

                Features of Unix
                                1) Simple
                                2) Written in C language
                                3) Can recycle codes

Unix was written in a piece of special piece of code, known as Kernel. This Kernel provided Unix the feature of code recycle. The operating system and all other functions were built around this kernel.
LINUX
Once upon a time in the early 90's Linus Todvales decided to develop some sort of academic version of UNIX, While working on this project he developed his own kernel , named as "Linux". Two years after Linus started his project, there were 12,000 Linux users in the world.
Linux is a perfect clone of Unix, use on workstations as well as on middle-range & high-end servers.
Linux user interface ( Is linux difficult ? )
Linux is an ideal OS for programmers, because it has: compilers, libraries, development & debugging tools. Here you will find all types of documentation and manual pages for help. If you can't remember the commands and paths just use " TAB " and it will guide you. There are commands like find and grep to make your search prompt.
Today developers of desktop applications are making incredible efforts to make most beautiful desktop graphics. They integrated a great deal of graphical user interfaces ( GUIs), If you want to switch from windows to Linux, and you are very new to linux. I Will reccomend you to use " UBUNTU " it is the best graphical linux operating system i ever experienced. Very much user friendly and awsome graphics. So, friends what you are waiting for try using linux from today only.
